Our Company History

Founded by James Davi in the early 1980’s, Surfaces Painting & Decorating, Inc. has been serving the Monterey Peninsula for over 27 years. James initially worked out of his Carmel Valley home with a single company truck. Later Surfaces leased space behind Monte Vista Market for storing equipment and materials and began adding staff and company vehicles as the company grew in size.

In 1998, Surfaces moved their headquarters to Sand City and now occupies over 3,000 square feet of office and warehouse space including their VOC regulated indoor spray facility.

Since the inception of Surfaces, James has maintained a strong reputation for quality and conducts business by the book with regards to regulations, workers comp insurance, liability insurance, employee training, and environmental concerns.

For those who know or have worked with James, he is a person of high integrity, maintains extremely clean project sites, and is exceptionally organized (take a tour of our warehouse someday).

Though Surfaces has grown in size, their customer service, quality, and reputation has never been comprised. With the ability to handle any size residential or commercial project, Surfaces chooses to maintain their current business strategy by limiting their growth rate in an effort to provide consistency and the personal care that is often lost as companies experience explosive growth.
